The Watchers (2024) Visual Development

I joined Ingenuity Studios as a Creature Supervisor to help out on The Watchers, the studios largest creature show to date.
This page showcases various concepts and designs I completed over the show.

Initially started by a previous supervisor, I helped out on finalising the concept of the base watcher creature, and then pushed the modeling/texture/look-dev further. Once this was done, I created designs for crowd variations with different silhouettes, and markings to differentiate in crowd shots.
As part of the end sequence, designs were created for a winged version of the base watcher, which were inspired by Celtic faries.
Initially the project required many more doppelganger sequences with the creatures, blending into the main actors, some of these designs can be seen below, but were ultimately cut, due to script revisions and reshoots.




Responsibilities:
· Lead a team of character artists to create a number watcher creatures and digi-doubles.
· Created a number of designs and concepts during the project, pitching different ideas to the director.
· Built variations and crowds of watchers for the project.
· Added FACS and face shape sculpting to all digi doubles
· Supported rigging and animation creating additional facial blendshapes as required
